Developments in Power System Protection 17th International Conference
DPSP 2024
4 – 7 March 2024 | Manchester, UK
Over 200 engineers from 23 countries attended DPSP 2024.
The programme of specially invited and peer-reviewed presenters included thought leadership, technical updates and strategic insight from Ofgem, Elia, National Grid ESO, the NationalHVDC Centre, Omicron Electronics, Texas A&M University, Virginia Tech, and the University of Manchester.
Attendees also enjoyed panel sessions, exploring areas including integration of renewables into the grid, protection and DERs, the role and application of IEC61850, and recruiting a diverse workforce. Two sessions looked to the future and what might be on the horizon for the sector.
Conclusions from the closing session were: the challenges of inverter-based resources is a particularly important topic, discussion of power system stability has ignited the room, awareness of diversity, especially neurodiversity, enables a more productive workforce, and most importantly - this is the most exciting time to be a protection engineer!
